On 22 May, UGEFA hosted the inaugural Business Advisor Network Workshop at Forest Cottages in Kampala, bringing together trusted and experienced advisors who have supported green SMEs across Uganda through UGEFA Phase 1 and 2. The session marked the start of a series designed to co-create a practitioner-led network with a clear purpose: peer learning, knowledge exchange, and a stronger, collective voice within Uganda’s business development services (BDS) and entrepreneurship discourse.
Conceived as a practitioner-powered platform that outlives any single project, the Green Business Advisor Network will raise the quality and consistency of advisory for green SMEs while enriching national BDS debates. It will bring practical perspectives to discussions such as the certification of business advisors in Uganda, ensuring standards-setting efforts reflect on-the-ground realities. Building on UGEFA’s position –a deep pipeline of green SMEs and close collaboration with partner banks and financial institutions– the network may articulate needs and opportunities for BDS services in Uganda and communicate priorities to ecosystem actors.
UGEFA will host follow-on meetings in the coming months to refine the network’s purpose, structure and activities, and to begin piloting joint learning sessions. As the network continues to constitute itself, regular updates and opportunities to engage will come along. Professionals working in this field will be able not only to receive information but also to contribute to this new platform. Stay tuned for more.
