About Us

Improved Access to Finance for Green Enterprises

We aim to facilitate the flow of green finance into the green SMEs sector through strengthening green enterprises and improving available financial mechanisms for SME debt financing.

We reduce the risk of financing change by working together with financial institutions to co-create funding facilitation mechanisms for green SMEs, and launch them with enterprises that have graduated from our acceleration programme to prepare for a wider roll-out.

We support green enterprises through a comprehensive and finance-focused accelerator programme to develop the business and financial skills needed to access financing and scale their positive environmental impacts and employment contributions.

Who is behind the Green Enterprise Finance Accelerator?

The Green Enterprise Finance Accelerator was launched as a project fully funded by the European Union, called Uganda Green Enterprise Finance Accelerator. The Uganda Green Enterprise Finance Accelerator was launched in 2020. After its proof of concept, we are now looking to replicate and scale our approach locally and regionally, in order to create transformative change and facilitate access to finance for green SMEs at scale.

Our approach proved to be effective to leverage the potential of green enterprises to contribute to job creation, private sector development, climate mitigation and adaptation, biodiversity conservation and a transformation to green and inclusive economies.

Our Activities

Catalyser Programme

Our Specific Objectives

What we aim to achieve with the Accelerator

Engage green enterprises

through a 3-stage programme of capacity building workshops and peer mentoring sessions to improve their business models, financial systems and capabilities, and prepare for external financing.

Co-create financial mechanisms

with financial institutions that address challenges in financing green SMEs, making the case for green SME financing.

Build a supportive ecosystem

around the green SMEs by training business development advisors, preparing trainings for financial institutions, and creating a green finance community, including through annual Green Finance Dialogue Fora.

Our Expected Results
