Training Enterprise Support Specialists in Green SME Acceleration

The Training of Trainers workshop marked a significant milestone for UGEFA’s Accelerator activities ahead. With passionate individuals committed to driving sustainable development, the UGEFA Accelerator programme is well-positioned to make a lasting impact on Uganda’s green enterprise ecosystem.

UGEFA recently conducted an impactful Training of Trainers workshop in Kampala. Held between May 31 and June 2, 2023, the event brought together 18 passionate individuals at the vibrant Motiv coworking space in a former industrial space in Uganda’s capital. The participants, with diverse backgrounds in finance, banking, and business development, gathered to enhance their skills and knowledge to support green SMEs that recently accessed finance. Selected participants will take part in the implementation of the UGEFA Accelerator Programme.

The UGEFA Accelerator, an integral component of the programme, aims to support and enable green SMEs who access finance through the UGEFA loan facility to absorb the recent acquired finance, to implement their investment projects and to ultimately further scale their impacts. Recognising the crucial role trainers play in facilitating this process, the Training of Trainers workshop was designed to equip individuals with the necessary tools and expertise to effectively mentor and guide scalable green enterprises.

During the three-day workshop, participants engage in a series of interactive sessions, discussions, and practical exercises. The workshop’s strength lay in its diverse cohort of participants. With a blend of professionals from finance, banking, and business support backgrounds, the learning environment was enriched by varied perspectives and experiences. The participants actively shared their insights, challenges, and success stories, fostering a collaborative and supportive atmosphere.

Certainly, one of the highlights for the participants was the presentation and following Q&A session of the UGEFA-supported enterprise Greencircle Ltd on the first day of the training. By sharing his perspective on the enterprise’s UGEFA journey, the founder, Harron Tusubira, provided the participants with insights on both opportunities as well as common challenges that green enterprises may face after receiving dept finance.

Furthermore, the Motiv coworking space provided an inspirational setting for the training, offering a dynamic and innovative workspace that stimulated creativity and collaboration. The facility’s conducive learning environment, and networking opportunities further enhanced the overall experience of the participants.
