30 SEPTEMBER 2021 | KAMPALA, UGANDA
September has been a busy month for UGEFA’s participation in events. After presenting the three partnership launches with our partner banks (Equity Bank, Yako Bank and Opportunity Bank) and hosting a session at the Africa Climate Week 2021, UGEFA took part in two events on Energy in Uganda.
On 29th September, the Alliance for Rural Electrification Investment Academy invited UGEFA to take part on the “Improving Access to Finance for Decentralized Renewable Energy SMEs” event, in partnership with the African National Renewable Energy Associations and supported by GET. Participants from Energy Service Companies (ESCos) from East and Southern Africa were present at the event. The UGEFA market approach was presented highlighting the capacity development and green financing model.
On the 21st September, UGEFA was invited to participate in the Energy Muktano Dialogue and Deal Room, as simultaneous activities. UGEFA was represented in the Dialogue facilitated by Asha Sharma from Beyond the Grid Fund, and Joyce from Power Africa. The roundtable discussions reflected on the financing energy businesses, technical challenges they face, policy landscape and what solutions are being provided to support energy businesses. Other participants at the event included the Ministry of Energy and the UN Capital Development Fund (UNCDF).
UGEFA is funded by the European Union and implemented by adelphi and Finding XY. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the European Union for its support.
