This year the European Development Days (EDD) took place digitally on 15-16 June, going beyond the EU borders to engage with actors who are actively contributing to a green and inclusive transition. The event focused on the challenges defined by biodiversity loss, climate change and environmental degradation and stressed the importance of building a greener and inclusive environment as a solution for post COVID-19 pandemic recovery. The event gathered up key development leaders and experts around the globe, opening the opportunity for participants to interact with them via online Q&A sessions. Several enterprises and programme leaders also presented their activities, challenges and strategies to create green and social impacts in their communities. The European Green Deal was highlighted as an important roadmap to proceed towards a green economy transition.

UGEFA and SEED engaged with stakeholders at the EDD and connected with like-minded enterprises. UGEFA and SEED hosted a joint online stand enterprise-relevant reports and enterprise case study videos, where stakeholders could chat and/or request meetings with both organisations. We were delighted to be a part of this amazing global stage, where we learned, shared, and got inspired by initiatives toward achieving a green, sustainable and circular economy.

Hosted by adelphi, SEED was founded at the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg by UN EnvironmentUNDP and IUCN as a global partnership for action on sustainable development and the green economy. SEED is based on the understanding that the promotion of social and environmental entrepreneurship is pivotal for environmentally friendly and socially inclusive development and poverty reduction. They work directly with growing enterprises and aspiring entrepreneurs in their Enterprise Support programmes to strategise, optimise and award achievements in eco-inclusive entrepreneurship.
